Preparation time: 5-6 hours (with 50-60 minutes oven baking) Makes: 3 loaves<\/p>\n
8 cups flour
\n1 tbsp. salt
\n1 cup rolled oats
\n\u00bc cup sugar
\n1 cup molasses
\n\u00bc cup shortening
\n1 tbl. yeast
\n4 cups warm water<\/p>\n
Combine flour, salt, rolled oats, sugar, molasses. Cut in shortening. Make a well and pour in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over water. Let stand 10 minutes until yeast is foamy. Mix, knead for 10 minutes and set to rise in a warm place for 2 \u00bd to 3 hours or until double in size. Punch down. Divide dough in \u00bd and then divide each \u00bd into 3 small balls. Place two balls into 3 greased loaf pans. Let rise for 2 hours. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.<\/p>\n
